Pappa Phil - R.I.P 1951-2011

What is one to say when a family member gets snatched away, way to soon?
Are you angry? But at whom?
Are you sad? Why?

Our lives were all blessed by Phil Caroll or “PAPA” as so many liked to call him. He was a father figure to a lot of children, and even to the adult juveniles here at “The Temple" We knew him and loved him as you do when yer a family…

Phil was a bit of a “Free Spirit"

He didn’t shave his beard once for 30yrs, Far out…

“Pullin up”, and “Pullin in” to a newly discovered spot now known as Uluwatu in 72, where were you? I was in the womb; I guess he was as well…

Back country skiing at Whistler in the 70,s when it was just a Hippy Town… Yep Phil was there to, he was the one with a joint in his hand and one behind his ear and a leather bladder of wine around his shoulder…

He was part of the crew that pioneered sail boarding at Jaws on Maui in the 80’s, yep we're still talking about papa…

He raced and drove motorcycles across more countries that you count on your fingers. To say the least, Phil got around…

And of course there are quite a few stories that are better told over a bottle of wine or a beer, or 8…

The Deus Temple of Enthusiasm in Bali would not have existed if it weren’t for Phil; he helped build “The Temple” with his bare hands, blood, sweat and beers…

His smile would light up the room, and NO ladies went un-noticed when Papa was out and about…

He loved sliding at 'Tugu Rights' (now re-named Phils) and he’d tell you all about it over Coffee and Fruit, even though we were all right next to him in the Line up…

The only man he ever punched in the face was “M.P.”

Yeah Phil was a Cool Cat cut from his own Spiritual Material…

“Carry on, our wayward son"

“Gone, but not forgotten"
