Deus Nine Foot and Single 2016 – Pulp Friction

It was a weary gathering of bodysurfers that filled the back yard at the Deus Temple of Enthusiasm, a hard day’s surfing taking its toll. But an energetic crowd joined them and soon the party was back on. Harry Holiday has been toiling away in his temporary Canggu studio and the superb results were displayed this evening at the Deus Gallery for his show of familiar and brand new work, collectively entitled Pulp Friction. "Pulp is the paper,” says Harry of his work, “the pencils are the Friction, the spark that starts the magic of creation. Long before TV and cellphones, people would sit around staring into their paintings and tapestries, getting lost in the movement - oh what a beautiful and simple time. Let's lose ourselves again." Limited edition prints, fresh oils and a host of Harry’s work graced the gallery, and it was a packed house for opening night. Never one for crowds, Harry kept a low profile, but his work spoke volumes, perfectly reflecting the festival’s aquatic action. Proudly sponsored by Albens Cider and Plaga Wine, the lubrication was flowing freely as was the conversation, and the back yard was abuzz with happy vibes, both trickling back from the beach and of the evening, the artwork and the coming days. Tomorrow sees the kick-off of the Deus Nine Foot & Single division at Canggu Right, surfing starting at dawn – 7am sharp.
